The Teams

There are many teams that take part in the Tour de France but the main teams that normally win the tour are as follows that include main race contenders:


  • Team Sky                       - Chris Froom (Has won last three TDF's consecutively)
  • Lotto                               - André Greipel (Biggest Green jersey contender)
  • Movistar                         -  Nairo Quintana (Best young rider winner[white jersey] twice)
  • AG2R La Mondiale       - Romain Bardet (King of the Mts. [Polkadot jersey] winner)
  • Atsana                            - Alberto Contador (Winner of TDF in 2007 and 2009)
  • BMC                              - Cadel Evans (Winner of TDF in 2011)
  • Quick Step Floors          - Mikal Kwiatkowski Won a rainbow Jersey in 2014 (World Campion)
  • Team Dimension Data  - Daniel Techlehaimenot, 2015 (First African to wear the KotM Jersey)
These are among the main teams but there are plenty of other teams that compete in lots of other competetions such as the Giro D'Italia and La Vuelta. These are all organised and ran by the UCI or Union Cycliste Internationale.



The UCI is an organisation that was founded on the 14th of April 1900. It's the governing body of cycling around the world. It wanted to achieve the development of cycling, for all people for competitions like the ones above.
